comparing jobs in government.
This week we have been studing jobs in the government section of jobs. we are suppose to talk about the two that we picked. one of my two jobs is a mapping technician. what they do is calculate mapmaking information from field notes, and also draw and verify accuracy of topographical maps. most of the occupations in this zone require training in vocational schools related on the job experience or an associate's degree. the other job is a radio operator. what they do is Receive and transmit communications using radiotelephone equipment in accordance with government regulations. May repair equipment. Monitor emergency frequencies in order to detect distress calls and respond by dispatching emergency equipment.Communicate with receiving operators in order to exchange transmission instructions.
Operate radio equipment in order to communicate with ships, aircraft, mining crews, offshore oil rigs, logging camps and other remote operations.Broadcast weather reports and warnings.Maintain station logs of messages transmitted and received for activities such as flight testing and fire locations. Most occupations in this zone require training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an associate's degree. Employees in these occupations usually need one or two years of training involving both on-the-job experience and informal training with experienced workers. A recognized apprenticeship program may be associated with these occupations.
